The Social Policy Group advocates for policies and systems that reflect and support Australia’s rich cultural diversity. We work closely with government, community, and service providers to shape national strategies that promote inclusion, belonging, and equity.
Our role is to ensure multicultural voices are heard at every level of decision-making, driving outcomes that empower culturally and linguistically diverse communities. By fostering collaboration and sharing insights across sectors, we help build a more inclusive Australia where diversity is recognised and cultivated as a national strength.
As a multicultural health peak body, The Social Policy Group leads national efforts to improve health access, equity, and outcomes for culturally and linguistically diverse communities. Through our leadership of the Migrant and Refugee Health Partnership, we work with government, health professionals, and community organisations to shape policies, strengthen workforce capability, and co-design resources that respond to diverse health needs.
We advocate for equitable healthcare systems and invest in solutions that reduce barriers, improve service navigation, and empower communities. Our goal is to ensure that all Australians, regardless of cultural background, can achieve their best possible health outcomes.
As a national peak body for settlement services, The Social Policy Group represents the interests of organisations supporting refugees, migrants, and humanitarian entrants. We collaborate with sector leaders and service providers nationwide to strengthen Australia’s settlement framework and improve outcomes for newly arrived communities. Our work focuses on building policy solutions, supporting sector capability, and amplifying community voices to inform government decisions.
As a settlement peak body, we lead the Settlement Engagement and Transition Support Program Community of Practice connecting frontline experience with policy leadership and sector best practice. We ensure the settlement system is responsive, inclusive, and effective in helping newcomers establish strong foundations and thrive in their new home.
We also extend our respect to emerging leaders and to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, acknowledging their enduring connection to the lands, waters, skies, and communities across this nation.
We honour the resilience, strength, and diversity of First Nations cultures and celebrate their ongoing contributions to society. Through our work, we strive to support equity, inclusion, and respect for the world’s oldest continuing cultures, understanding that this is fundamental to achieving social justice and a better future for all Australians. We acknowledge that sovereignty has never been ceded, and we affirm that the lands on which we operate always were, and always will be, Aboriginal land.
